Ichio Otsuka DIGMOG COFFEE Exhibition

Wellmo, the manager of DIGMOG COFFEE, a home-roasting coffee shop run by illustrator Ichio Otsuka, known for his work on NHK Educational TV's "Mie-Tsuketa!", will be coming to fuai mart + cafe, diligently digging holes from Joetsu, Niigata!

"Welmo" is also the welcoming character at Joetsu Myoko Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
The exhibition will be a special space, with a collection of cute original Welmo drawings and posters, drawn by Ichio with soft lines and white space.

During the period, you will receive merchandise and coffee beans, and you can also enjoy DIGMOG COFFEE roasted coffee at the cafe.

Talk event "When a Character is Born" will be held!

We will invite Ichio Otsuka to speak on the theme of "When a character is born."

Characters from NHK Educational TV's "MieTsuketa!" and "Let's Play in English," as well as "Welmo," the welcoming character at Joetsu Myoko Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, are among the characters.

This is a rare opportunity to hear plenty of behind-the-scenes stories from Otsuka, who has created many popular characters.

Please join in and have fun while thinking of your favorite characters.

Ichio Otsuka Profile

Illustrator and art director

Born in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture in 1968, he has worked extensively as an illustrator in advertising, packaging, and publishing. As an art director, he has directed advertising and television programs, creating character designs, sets, costumes, and title logos, as well as the art direction for the entire program. His NHK Educational TV program, "Mie Tsuketa!", won the Grand Prize in the Preschool Category at the 2011 Japan Prize at the International Mathematics and Educational Content Competition. He designed the main characters for NHK Educational TV's "Eigo de Asobo" from 2012 to 2016. Since 2014, he has served as family art director for J.League team Kawasaki Frontale. He is responsible for merchandise and event-related design, including the uniform design for the 2015 season and the club's catchphrase in 2016. He also art directed the main visuals for Yokohama Bank's "Dreaming Series" and created "Welmo," the welcoming character at Joetsu Myoko Station. He also conducts numerous children's workshops.

Winner of the 2005 Tokyo ADC Award , as well as other Cannes Lions and D&AD awards He has also received numerous international awards, including the following: Professor at Tokyo Zokei University
